Live from the Augusta National Golf Club, the annual Masters Tournament starts on April 6, 2017. The four-day event celebrates the 81st edition of the Masters. It will be exciting to see several of the world top players such as Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Dustin Johnson compete in the tournament. The prize is perhaps the greatest a golfer receive, which is the prestigious Green Jacket.

The Augusta National is located in Georgia, and is renowned for its traditions. For instance, each hole on the golf course are named after flowers. In addition, the first of four majors for golfers, numerous people regard the Masters as the official start of the golf season. This runs counter to what actually occurs, since other events occurs before the Masters.

Moreover, the formation of the Masters participants is important to note. Automatically, invitations go to the top 50 golfers in the Official Wolf Golf Ranking to participate in the tournament. In total, the Masters organizers send out around 90-100 invitations each year.

Obviously, the favorite to win the tournament is Jordan Spieth who had a top-three finish in the tournament in the tournament in the past three years. In 2014, he finished second, the following year he won the Masters, and last year he finished in second place. The 2016 Masters tournament was noteworthy because Speith suffered a collapse after he was the leader by five strokes halfway through the final round. Without doubt, he regards the tournament as a chance to redeem himself.

Also, legendary players ranging from Jack Nicklaus to Tiger Woods have not only participated in the tournament, but have been victorious as well. Nicklaus is the all-time leader in Masters wins as he has won the tournament six times. Both Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer are second with four wins each.

According to Bovada, an online gambling site, Dustin Johnson is the favorite to win the tournament with 5-1 odds. Following him is Jordan Speith, Rory McIlroy, and Jason Day with 7-1, 7-1, and 16-1 odds, respectively, for each player.

Day, one of the favorites to win the Masters has a personal issue that he must attend to. His mother has lung cancer and had surgery recently in an attempt the treat the disease.
Still, it is unknown whether Day will play in the Master’s tournament, but if he decides not to play to tend to his mother; it will be a setback to the tournament. Nevertheless, the tournament is a must see event for golf fans everywhere, as it never fails to amaze.
