On January 27, the Gerald P. Buccino ’63 Center for Leadership Development had the unique opportunity to visit Verizon’s headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. One of the leadership program’s initiatives, Leadership 102, initiated the visit. Within the initiative, team members organize visits to various corporate locations. Upon arriving at the Verizon headquarters, participants were introduced to Anali Lins and Noelle Albanito, Managers in Human Resources. The morning began with an introduction and welcome by John Boylan. After a great lunch, a few Verizon employees took the team on a tour of the 1.2 million square foot headquarters. The tour escorts were Mike Louie, Sr. Analyst in Human Resources, Whitney From, Manager in Supply Chain, and Matt Smith, Analyst in Supply Chain.
Following the tour, the team met with Karyn Stetz, Vice President in Human Resources. She spoke about the industry and how Verizon is adapting to constant changes. Also, she expressed the importance of never forgetting where you come from. With success, it is important to give back and be grateful.
The final session of the day including a meeting with Jim Gowen, Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President in Supply Chain, and Jillian Kessler, Manager in Sustainability.
They discussed how Verizon is always trying to make decisions that are eco-friendly.
Afterwards, the team participated in a Jeopardy game to highlight what they learned from the presentation.
