The Stillman School of Business honored the recipients of the John P. Deehan scholarship in Jubilee Library on Friday September 23. John P. Deehan was an alumnus of Seton Hall Preparatory School and Seton Hall University.
He graduated with a degree in accounting and went on to work professionally as an accountant for over ten years.
Following his accounting career, he began his remarkable forty year teaching career at the Stillman School of Business.
Since the early 2000’s, Deehan has awarded a scholarship to Stillman students each year.
Following his passing, the scholarship committee decided to continue the prestigious award.
Deehan’s family and friends were in attendance. Also joining them was the scholarship committee, recipients, and their families.
This year, the recipients were: Andrew Aguilera, Devin Eager, Dominique Fortes, Erika Ota Liedtke, and Shane Murphy.
The recipients applied for the scholarship over the summer via an application and essay.
This year’s essay question asked applicants to discuss three things for which they would like to be remembered for.
At the ceremony, each recipient had a moment to reflect on Deehan’s legacy and what they wrote for their essay.
Overall, the event served as an excellent opportunity to remember one of Stillman’s best and brightest, Mr. John P. Deehan.
